Steve sat in a wheelchair today for three hours--changing position in 30 minute intervals to regulate his blood pressure, which remained pretty stable throughout the entire time.
Unfortunately, Steve has a MRSA staff infection in the area around his trach tube. They are treating it with antibiotics, but MaryAnn and Joe are very concerned about it. Also, Steve complained of chest pains related to the infection, so he was given some pain medication to deal with the discomfort. Fortunately, when MaryAnn and Joe left tonight, Steve no longer had a fever.
The medical staff removed one of Steve's chest tubes today. The tube removed fluids from Steve's right lung, so its removal is a good step.
Steven was entirely exhausted from today's movements, we were told that this would be the case. Shepherd is working him, so he hasn't been as chatty. But MaryAnn and Joe are so proud of him for the way that he is handling this.
And they ask that you please, keep the prayers going. Thank you.
